Maxwell Named College Sports Madness National Player of the Week

SALT LAKE CITY – University of Utah Women's Basketball sophomore shooting guard Brynna Maxwell has been named College Sports Madness National Player of the Week, announced today. It is Maxwell's first-career national player of the week honor.

Maxwell is coming off two double-digit scoring games this week, including her career-high day against No. 15 Oregon State. The sophomore averaged 22.5 points and 3.5 threes made in Utah's wins over No. 15 Oregon State and Montana State this week, also combining for six assists and five steals.

The Gig Harbor, Wash., native got things started with a career-high 34 points against the Beavers, shooting 10-of-15 from the floor and 4-of-7 from the three. It was the most points in a game by a Ute since 2019 and ranks seventh in program history in single-game points.

Her 34 points is the most by a player in the Pac-12 this season as well. She also shot a perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line against Oregon State and is 14-for-14 this season.

Maxwell scored 11 points in Utah's win over Montana State, also notching a career-high six assists and a career-best four steals against the Bobcats. Maxwell has now reached double-digits in 23 of her 34 career games and is averaging 13.5 points per game overall.
