2021 Schedule

PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State University men's golf head coach Dustin White announced the Cougars 2020-21 schedule Thursday, Jan. 7. The six-tournament slate gets underway Jan. 25-27 at the Arizona Intercollegiate at the Sewailo Golf Club in Tucson, Arizona and runs through late April with the Pac-12 Championships, taking place April 26-28 at the Mayacama Golf Club in Santa Rose, California.

"The 2021 season can't get here fast enough," expressed White. "We understand the severity of everything that has happened this past year, but we have been eagerly waiting the opportunity to compete for quite some time now. Our guys have been working hard and playing in some events on their own to be ready for when we get to tee it up as a team again."

After their season-opening tournament in Arizona, the Cougars will head to the Golden State to participate in The Joust at the Goose Creek Golf Club in Riverside California. The two-day tournament, hosted by Cal Baptist, will take place from Feb. 22-23.

Washington State will play in two tournaments during the month of March, starting with a three-day stay at the Bandon Dunes Championship (March 7-9) at the Bandon Trails Golf Club in Bandon, Oregon. The Cougs conclude the month with a trip down to Palo Alto, California to participate in The Goodwin at Stanford University from March 25-27.

WSU heads back to California in early April to play in the El Macero Classic (April 10-12) at the El Macero Country Club, before concluding the regular season at the Pac-12 Championships (April 26-28) in Santa Rose, California.

"We have a great schedule set up for the spring leading up to the conference championship in April," said White. "We do know there could be some hurdles along the way, but we'll adapt and focus our energy on what we can actually control. If we do a better job of that than other teams, the result will take care of itself."

This will be the latest start to a season in program history for the Cougars, as the fall portion of the 2020-21 season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Washington State returns six golfers from last season's team, which includes fifth-year senior Nicklaus Chiam, who returns to the Cougars after having his senior season cut short in the spring of 2020 after the NCAA canceled the majority of the season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Senior Ryan Maine and sophomores Yuya Eguchi, Tianyu Wu and Pono Yanagi round out the group of returnees for Coach White. Redshirt junior Max Sekulic also becomes eligible this spring after transferring from Grand Canyon at the mid-way point of last season.

Washington State welcomes in a quartet of newcomers this season as well. Redshirt senior Eric Hagen, a graduate transfer from Olympia, Washington, brings in a heap of NCAA experience to the roster after playing in a total 117 rounds at the University of Denver. Freshman Preston Bebich from Gig Harbor Washington, Jaden Cantafio from Tustin, California and Nate Plaster from Spokane, Washington also join the Cougs this season.

"There's a genuine excitement and buzz about playing college golf again and I know we'll show up ready to play," White said of his team. "They've been asking about our schedule nearly every day since August and I think that shows how badly they want to get back at it."
