Carley Horan Returns to Serve as USC Lacrosse Assistant Coach

Jan 8, 2021

LOS ANGELES – The USC lacrosse program has hired former four-year letterwinner Carley Horan as assistant coach, head coach Lindsey Munday announced on Friday, Jan. 8.

"Bringing Carley Horan back to the Women of Troy is great for our program," said Munday. "As one of our first players, she knows the culture, the school, the traditions, and is in tune with our goals and our vision for the future. She was an instrumental team member for squads that truly helped lay the foundation for this program; and her vast knowledge and experience in nutrition and strength will greatly benefit our current student-athletes."

Horan (2013-16) was a four-year letterwinner and appeared in 25 games for the Trojans. She helped USC win back-to-back Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) championships in 2015 and 2016. Horan and the Women of Troy became the first-ever team from the West to advance to an NCAA quarterfinal when USC faced Syracuse in 2016.

Horan previously served as an assistant coach for the Morristown High School (Morristown, N.J.) girls' varsity team and as head coach of the STEPS Elite Lacrosse Club (Randolph, N.J.) intermittently from 2012-19.

Horan is a registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN) and is a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS). She has experience in nutrition sales and marketing and has served as a corporate wellness coach. Horan also holds certification as a yoga teacher (RYT200) and served as a yoga and spin instructor in her home state of New Jersey.

Horan earned a Master of Science in nutrition, lifespan, and longevity from the USC Davis School of Gerontology (2018) and received her Bachelor of Science in health promotion and disease prevention (2016) from USC.

The Trojans were undefeated through six games (6-0) and were ranked seventh in the final IWLCA Coaches Poll of the 2020 season; shortened due to the COVID-19 pandemic. USC had produced a 5-0 record in home games and was 2-0 in the Pac-12. The Trojans' fifth win of the season was the 100th of now ninth-year head coach Lindsey Munday's career. She is 101-42 (.706) all-time with the Women of Troy. Munday's Trojans were the defending Pac-12 regular-season and tournament champion in 2019 and will have a chance to defend those titles in 2021.
