Chou Named Pac-12 Player of the Week After Career Performance
San Francisco, Calif. – Natalie Chou has earned Pac-12 Player of the Week honors, the Conference office announced Monday. It's the first-career weekly honor for Chou and the 64th all-time for UCLA Women's Basketball.
UCLA has now earned back-to-back Player of the Week accolades, as senior Michaela Onyenwere secured the award last week (Jan. 4) after scoring a career-high 33 points in the Bruins' win over then-No. 8 Oregon in Eugene. Sophomore guard Charisma Osborne won the first Pac-12 Player of the Week award of the 2020-21 season on Nov. 30 after a 31-point performance. The Bruins are the only team in the Conference with multiple POW honorees this season.
Chou earned the weekly accolade on the heels of UCLA's 92-67 victory over Utah (Jan. 11), in which she scored a career-high 28 points. It was her first 20+ point game of the season and her 28 points were six more than her previous career-high total (22 while playing for Baylor). She was lights out from the floor against the Utah, knocking down a career-best 11 field goals on 11-for-14 shooting. It was the first time in her career that she notched double-digit field goals. She also tied a career-high with five three-pointers (5-for-7 3FG) in the victory.
The Plano, Texas native also grabbed a pair of rebounds and dished out two assists against the Utes. She was active on the defensive end and recorded two steals on the day.
