Dylan Becker Named To USA Swimming National Junior Team

SALT LAKE CITY - Utah distance swimmer Dylan Becker has been named to the USA Swimming National Junior team, announced by USA Swimming Sunday night. Becker, a freshman at Utah, has been added to the 2021 roster for USA Swimming for the 800 and 1500 freestyle events. 

Becker earned the distinction after winning the 800 and 1500 free at the NCSA Summer Swimming Championship in 2019. The Las Vegas, Nev. finished the 800 free with a personal-best time of 8:07.48, while totaling 15:28.31 in the 1500 free.

Becker swam club for the Sandpipers of Nevada and was a three-year letterwinner at Bishop Gorman High School. During his club career, Becker was an Olympic Trials qualifier in the 800 free and 1500 free, along with the 2019 5K Junior National Champion. He was also a Nevada State champion in the 1650 free. 

To be selected to the National Junior Team, athletes must meet the General Criteria. The Team will then be selected based on the following Performance Criteria:

  1. The two (2) eligible athletes with the highest World Ranking in each individual Olympic event (up to 28 women and 28 men); and
  2. The eligible athletes with the third (3rd) and fourth (4th) highest World Ranking in the 100 and 200 meter long course freestyle (up to 4 women and 4 men); and
  3. Additional athletes who have achieved a long course meter time faster or equal to the time standards listed below:
