Jan 11, 2021

SAN FRANCISCO – The Pac-12 Conference weekly accolades continue to roll in for Washington State women's basketball player Charlisse Leger-Walker, as the conference announced Monday, Jan. 11, that she has been named the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week for the third-straight week. It is also the fourth time this season Leger-Walker has earned the honor, which is sets a program record.

With her fourth weekly freshman honor of the season, Leger-Walker passes Borislava Hristova for the most Pac-12 Freshman of the Week awards won by a Washington State player in program history. The guard from Waikato, New Zealand becomes just the fourth player in Pac-12 history to earn freshman of the week in three-consecutive weeks, joining Washington's Kelsey Plum, who first accomplished the feat back in 2013-14, Oregon's Maite Cazorla who won three-straight weeks in 2015-16 and California's Kristine Anigwe, who did it on two separate occasions also during the 2015-16 season,

Leger-Walker scored a team-best 17 points in Sunday's 71-69 overtime win over No. 7/10 Arizona. The guard was clutch down the stretch, as she scored 10 of her 17 points in the fourth quarter and overtime to help WSU erase a 16-point deficit in the second half. The freshman sent the game into overtime with a reverse layup at the end of regulation, then sank the game-winner in overtime to help Washington State pick up its first win over a top-10 team since the 2016-17 season. Leger-Walker also added five assists and three steals to her stat line in the win over Arizona.

Meanwhile, redshirt senior Krystal Leger-Walker was named the Pac-12 Player of the Week by College Sports Madness. The elder Leger-Walker sister nearly had a double-double against Arizona, as she tallied 14 points and nine assists in the win. The point guard posted a 9:1 assist-to-turnover ratio in 45 minutes of action against the Wildcats.

No. 25-ranked Washington State begins a four-game road trip this Friday, Jan. 15, in Los Angeles against Southern Cal. Tip-off against the Trojans is set for 4:30 p.m. PT on Pac-12 Washington.
