TEMPE - Year two of the Dion Miller era is finally here.

After the 2019-20 campaign was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Sun Devils reset, reloaded, and set their eyes on the new year. The 2020-21 season features two cross country races and four indoor track and field events. ASU's outdoor schedule will be released at a later date.

ASU's cross country season opens Jan. 23 at Silver Lake Park in Tucson, and continues at the same location two weeks later on Feb. 5. The Pac-12 cross country championships are then set to take place March 5 in University Place, Wash., with the NCAA Cross Country Championships set for March 15 in Stillwater, Okla. ASU cross country has a new leader in head coach Patrick Henner who joined the program in October.

The indoor season opens Jan. 16 at Texas A&M's Ted Nelson Invitational. The team then heads to the two-day Texas Tech Invitational Jan. 29-30 in Lubbock, Texas. The Arkansas Qualifier takes place Feb. 5 in Fayetteville, Ark., then the Sun Devils are back in Lubbock for the Texas Tech Shootout Feb. 12-13. The NCAA Indoor  Championships are scheduled for March 9-14 in Fayetteville.

Names to Know
ASU returns big names this year in All-Americans Cortney Jones (hurdles), Beatrice Llano (hammer), and Kaylee Antill (hammer). Between signings and transfers, the Sun Devils welcomed more than 10 new faces to the program since last season. Names to remember include Jamar Marshall, Mya Lesnar, Keira Christie-Galloway, Jorinde van Klinken and Ta'nayla Gordon.

Marshall became the second-fastest high school hurdler in U.S. history when he clocked a 13.22 at the USATF U20 Championships in 2019. He also claimed 12-straight 110mH victories and the California state title. Lesnar, a standout thrower from Minnesota, was the No. 6 junior in the nation after claiming her shot put state title by nearly a foot (13.14m) her junior year. She took silver in the discus that same week and tossed the third-furthest plate in the state that year too.

Christie-Galloway came to ASU after claiming two school records, two conference titles, an outdoor All-American nod, and the Big 12 Freshman of the Year award from Iowa State. The young stud set the school record and won the conference title in the 60mH at her first Big 12 Championship event, then went on to complete the sweep of the hurdles titles at the Big 12 Outdoor Championships by setting another school record in the 100m hurdles.

Van Klinken, a Dutch thrower, won gold in shot put in the 2019 Eastern U20 Championships, her best after taking bronze in 2018 and silver in 2017. Her discus PR would've earned her third at the 2019 NCAA championships.

Gordon transferred to ASU after two years at the University of Memphis.  The Murfreesboro, Tenn. native won bronze at the AAC Indoor Championships for the long jump last February and placed sixth in the women's long jump at the 2019 USA Track and Field Junior Championships.
