USC Men's Basketball Begins 3-Game Road Trip At Oregon State Tuesday

The USC Trojans (11-2, 5-1) will play at the Oregon State Beavers (6-5, 2-3) at Gill Coliseum on Jan. 19 at 4:00 p.m. The game will air on ESPN2 with Dave Pasch and Bill Walton calling the action. USC has won a season high six consecutive games and has won eight of its last nine games.  USC has won its last five Pac-12 Conference games and has not won six consecutive Conference games since the 2018 season (Jan. 10-28).

FACING OREGON STATE  --  Oregon State (6-5, 2-3) is coming off an 80-79 home win over Arizona State on Jan. 16.  The USC game at OSU was originally scheduled for Dec. 20, but was postponed after a a confirmed case of COVID-19 within the USC men's basketball program shut down the Trojans' activity from Dec. 13-26.  Ethan Thompson leads OSU in scoring with a 16.1 average.  USC leads the all-time series 74*-65 (2 wins vacated due to NCAA penalty, original record 76-65).  USC won the only meeting last season, a 75-55 victory in Corvallis.  

USC GOES WIRE-TO-WIRE IN WIN OVER WSU  -- Tahj Eaddy scored 14 of his team-high 21 points in the first half to lead USC to a 85-77 victory over Washington State at the Galen Center on Jan. 16.  It was USC's ninth straight win over the Cougars. USC scored the first five points of the game and led wire-to-wire for the second consecutive game. The Trojans led 39-27 at halftime, but the Cougars were not about to go away.  USC led by as many as 15 points early in the second half, but an 11-0 WSU run cut the lead to 73-69 with 4:30 remaining. Still up by just four points at 76-72 with 3:14 remaining, USC went on a 6-0 run on made baskets by Eaddy, Evan Mobley and Isaiah White to put the game away.  WSU made 49.1 percent of its field goals, a season best by a Trojan opponent.  USC forced 15 turnovers and committed eight, while outscoring WSU 24-7 on points off turnovers.  Drew Peterson posted a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Evan Mobley added 16 points and White 13.  Isaac Bonton led WSU with 27 points.   

PACKING FOR THE ROAD -- USC has won its first two Pac-12 road games and has not started 3-0 in Conference road games since beginning 6-0 in Pac-10 play on the road during the1985 season.  

STANFORD ON DECK -- Stanford (8-5, 4-3) is coming off a 77-64 loss at Colorado on Jan. 16.  Four Cardinal players are averaging double figures in scoring led by Oscar da Silva's 19.3 points per game.  USC defeated Stanford 82-78 in overtime on Jan. 18,2020 in the only meeting between the schools last season.  USC has lost its last five games at Maples Pavilion.  USC is 126*-127 all-time against Stanford, with a win in 2008 vacated due to NCAA penalty (original record 127-127).   

MAGIC MARKER --  With the 95-68 win against Washington on Jan. 14, USC is now 78-4 in its last 82 games when holding the opposition to under 70 points scored dating back to Feb. 28, 2015.  

DOING IT WITH DEFENSE -- USC has held its opponents to 37.1 percent shooting this season, third-best in the country. USC's opponents have shot over 40 percent from the field four times in the first 13 games, with the highest shooting percentage being 49.1 percent by Washington State on Jan. 16.    

USC HOSTING BLOCK PARTY -- USC has had 77 blocks in its first 13 games for an average of 5.9 blocks per game, seventh in the country.  Freshman Evan Mobley is averaging 3.1 blocks per game, tied for eighth in the country and third among freshmen. Mobley already ranks tied for sixth on USC's all-time freshman blocks list (40).  

EFFICIENT OFFENSE -- USC is second among Pac-12 with an 78.3 scoring average and is second with a +13.4 scoring margin.  USC also leads all Pac-12 teams with a 47.5 shooting percentage this season.   

PLAYING PAINT BALL -- USC has outrebounded its opponents 540-438 through the first 13 games and has outscored the opposition 470-310 on points scored in the paint.   LIKE NIGHT AND DAY --  In its 11 wins, USC is shooting 49.2 percent from the floor (323-for-656) and in its two losses is shooting 37.2 percent (42-for-113).  USC has also outrebounded or had the same amount of boards as the opposition in all 11 of the wins (116 more total rebounds) and was outrebounded in both of its losses (14 less total rebounds).  

MOBLEY NAMED TO MIDSEASON WOODEN AWARD WATCH LIST -- USC freshman forward Evan Mobley was named to the 25-man Wooden Award Midseason Watch List for the top men's collegiate basketball player. Mobley is one of four freshmen on the list.  

A DOUBLE DOSE OF MOBLEY PLEASE -- USC brothers Evan (5) and Isaiah Mobley (4) rank first and tied for second respectively in double-doubles this season by Pac-12 players.  They also rank first (Evan, 8.3) and tied for fourth (Isaiah, 7.3) in rebounding.  Evan is averaging 16.2 points per game  and Isaiah is averaging 10.2 points per contest.
