Gym Devils Release Full 2021 Schedule

Jan 19, 2021

TEMPE, Ariz. – The 2021 Sun Devil Gymnastics full schedule is finally here, as announced along with the Pac-12, and it features five home meets and matchups with each Pac-12 opponent.

"We are extremely excited to announce our 2021 schedule," Arizona State head coach Jay Santos said. "Everyone went through a lot in 2020 with our season being cut short, so we are thrilled for the opportunity to write a new story in 2021. It is going to be an exciting season and this Gym Devil squad is ready to show how much they have put in this preseason and take another step forward."

Despite all of the COVID precautions and fan attendance not being permitted, the 2021 season looks to be another exciting challenge for the Gym Devils. Eight teams on the schedule finished the 2020 season in the top 25 on Road to Nationals, including three in the top five and five in the top 10.

"The Pac-12 is one of the most competitive conferences in the country," Santos said. "Add to that several outstanding out of conference matchups and it will challenge this team to be at their best week in and week out."

Though the full schedule has just been announced, the 2021 season has already begun for the Gym Devils. Last Saturday, Arizona State hosted BYU in its second meet of the year, picking up a win against the Cougars.

There are three non-conference meets on the schedule. The first was 2019 NCAA champion Oklahoma and the second was the home opener against BYU, who has qualified for NCAA regionals each season since 2013. The final non-conference meet is also the final regular season meet, which will be on March 12 at Boise State.

Pac-12 play begins on January 23 when Arizona State will head to LA to take on 2018 National Champion and 2019 Pac-12 Champion UCLA. The Gym Devils will then return to Desert Financial Arena for two-straight meets, hosting Oregon State on January 29 and Utah on February 6, both of whom are 2019 National Championship qualifiers.

On Valentine's Day, ASU will travel to the Bay Area to face Cal before coming back to Tempe on February 20 to host Stanford, both teams that finished in the top 25 in 2020. On February 28, the Sun Devils will compete against the Washington Huskies, who finished No. 10 in the rankings, in Seattle. Finally, conference play will end with the rivalry meet against Arizona in DFA on March 6. The Gym Devils have not lost to the Wildcats in any meet in the last four seasons.

The postseason will begin with the Pac-12 Championships on March 20 at the Maverik Center in Utah. Should the Gym Devils qualify for postseason, NCAA regionals will be held from April 1-3.
