Utah tops competitive pack in Pac-12 Women's Gymnastics Preseason Coaches Poll
SAN FRANCISCO - Reigning conference champion UTAH has been tabbed as the 2021 preseason favorite in a poll of Pac-12 Women’s Gymnastics coaches. The Red Rocks, who opened the 2021 season ranked No. 4 in the Women’s Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) Preseason Poll, received six first-place votes and 48 total points.
UCLA was picked to finish second in the coaches poll with 40 points, collecting one first-place vote. The Bruins, picked to finish first in the previous three preseason coaches polls, narrowly edged third-place CALIFORNIA, which finished with 39 points including the final first-place vote.
OREGON STATE garnered 32 points to take the fourth slot in the coaches’ preseason poll, followed by WASHINGTON in fifth with 21 points. ARIZONA STATE (20 points), ARIZONA (17 points) and STANFORD (seven points) rounded out the poll.
No. 4 UTAH led seven Conference teams ranked in the WCGA Preseason Poll. No. 7 UCLA and No. 8 CALIFORNIA joined UTAH in the top-10, while No. 13 OREGON STATE, No. 19 WASHINGTON, No. 21 ARIZONA STATE and No. 24 ARIZONA rounded out the top-25.
Conference competition opens this weekend with a pair of dual meets televised by Pac-12 Network when UTAH hosts ARIZONA and UCLA welcomes ARIZONA STATE on Saturday. For more information, including television schedules, please visit pac-12.com.
