SAN FRANCISCO – For the fourth consecutive season, the Cal women's gymnastics team has been predicted to finish in third place in the Pac-12 by a poll of the league's coaches.
The Bears received 39 points, including a first-place selection. In Cal's four-year run of third place predictions they have recorded more points in each successive season, with this year's total the highest. It is also the first time Cal has received a first-place vote.
The Bears finished just one point behind UCLA and nine points behind Utah, who collected six of the eight first-place nods. UCLA and Cal both had one first-place selection. Oregon State (32), Washington (21), Arizona State (20), Arizona (17) and Stanford (7) were chosen to finish after the Bears.
Last season, the Pac-12 and NCAA Championships were unable to be completed due to COVID-19 pandemic.
The Bears will open the 2021 schedule on January 30 as they host Air Force at Haas Pavilion. That will be the lone non-conference meet as the Bears will compete in seven dual meets against Pac-12 opponents. The Bears will travel to No. 4 and top-picked Utah on February 26 and be broadcast on Pac-12 Network at 7 p.m. Cal is scheduled to host UCLA on March 6 at 2 p.m.
