USC Track & Field Wins 6 Events At The Woo Pig Classic In Arkansas

USC won six events, set three school freshman records and posted nine Trojan top 10 marks at the season-opening Woo Pic Classic held at Randal Tyson Indoor Track Center in Fayetteville, Ark. today (Jan. 22).  The USC men's team placed second in the scored meet and the women's team took fourth.

  • The first Trojan to win an event was TeeTee Terry who captured the women's 60m title by matching her PR of 7.14.  That time also ranks second on USC's all-time indoor list.  Lanae-Tava Thomas finished sixth with a time of 7.40.  Terry had a time of 7.24 and Thomas 7.44 in the prelims.
  • Brendon Stewart then won the men's 60m dash with a time of 6.64, while Daniel Robinson placed fourth with a time of 6.83.  Steward advanced to the final with a time of 6.69 and Robinson posted a time of 6.86 in the prelims.
  • Bailey Lear won the women's 400m with a time of 52.55.  Kaelin Roberts finished fourth with a time of 52.94, Nicole Yeargin was seventh with an indoor PR and 10th-fastest time in USC history of 53.25, Breanna Bernard-Joseph was 10th with a time of 55.27 and Chioma Okonkwo was 13th with a time of 56.89.  Jan'Taijah Ford originally had a time of 53.35, but was later disqualified.
  • Nicholas Ramey had a time of 46.62, just .02 off his PR, to win the men's 400m race.  Brian Herron had a time of 46.77 to finish second and move into 8th on USC's all-time indoor 400m list.  Also in the 400m were Cameron Samuel (48.35, 10th), Noah Green (49.07, 11th) and Andrew Arth (51.51, 12th).
  • Sam VanDorpe won the men's 800m race with a PR of 1:49.98.  His time moved him from seventh to sixth on USC all-time indoor 800m list.
  • Earnest Sears III won the men's high jump with a clearance of 7-0.50 (2.15m).
  • The first Trojan to set a school freshman record was Trey Knight in the weight throw.  He placed fourth with a best mark of 64-8.50 (19.72m) which set the USC freshman record and moved him into third place on USC's all-time list in the event.
  • Morgan Smalls took fourth place in the women's high jump with a clearance of 5-8.50 (1.74m).  That clearance set a USC freshman record and moved her into a second-place tie on USC's all-time list.
  • Josh Ligas set the USC men's freshman one-mile record with a time of 4:15.64.  His time was just outside of USC's top 10 and was good for 13th on the day.
  • Mecca McGlaston finished second in the women's 60m hurdles race with a time of 8.08, .01 seconds behind the winner.  McGlaston had a time of 8.11 in the prelims, the top qualifier.
  • McKay Johnson placed second in the men's shot put with his mark of 65-8.25 (20.02m).  That mark moves him to second on USC's all-time indoor shot put list.
  • Jalyn Jackson finished second in the men's triple jump with a best leap of 50-2.50 (15.30m).  Jackson also placed fourth in the men's long jump with a best mark of 24-7.00 (7.49m).
  • USC's women's 4x400m relay "A" of Lear, Roberts, Yeargin and Ford placed second with a time of 3:32.44.  That time moves them to 10th on USC's all-time indoor relay list.  USC's "B" team of Okonkwo, Jones, Brewer and Daly posted a time of 3:48.37 to place seventh.
  • Alyssa Brewer took third in the women's 800m race with a time of 2:07.65.  Jennifer Daly had a time of 2:28.02 for finish 13th.
  • Stewart came back to place third in the men's 200m dash with a PR of 21.07.  His time bettered his 10th-place standing on USC's all-time list.  Robinson also did the 60m-200m double and finished fifth with a PR of 21.59.
  • Thomas started the day off for the Trojans by placing fifth in the women's long jump.  Her best jump of the day was 19-7.50 (5.98m). 
  • Summer Mosley took eighth in the women's shot put with a mark of 41-0.50 (12.51m)
  • Terry came back to run 23.64 and place 9th in the women's 200m.  Jasmine Jones has a time of 23.81 for finish 10th and McGlaston a time of 23.83 for finish 11th.
  • Zion Gordon finished ninth in the men's 60m hurdles with a time of 8.30, just missing out on advancing to the finals.
  • Karlee Freeman competed in the women's weight throw and took 11th with a best mark of 49-2.25 (14.99m).
