LOS ANGELES – The UCLA swim and dive team wrapped up their tri-meet at USC's Uytengsu Aquatics Center on Saturday morning, recording a number of notable performances over the two-day competition.

UCLA swimmers ultimately recorded the top time in eight of the 17 scheduled events, one behind the host Trojans. The third team in the meet – Arizona – had a pair of runner-up finishes and three third-place results. However, the meet was not scored, and there were no diving events.

Key performances for the Bruins came from freshman Sam Baron, who had the top time in both butterfly events (she tied in the 100 fly) and Claire Grover, who took the 50 free race with a time of 23.30.

The Bruins also dominated the distance freestyle events.

Daniella Hawkins had the top time in the 1000 free on Friday at 10:14.86, and she was followed in succession by three of her teammates in freshman Greta Fanta (10:23.72), sophomore Stephanie Su (10:28.54), and junior Katie Sulkevich (10:33.79).

UCLA followed up with the top two and five of the top six times in the 500 free, which was won by Fanta at 5:01.43.

Other day one winners included sophomore Gabby Dang (100 back; 56.74) and Baron (200 fly; 2:01.57).

Saturday's winners included Baron (her 55.34 in the 100 fly was matched by USC's Jemma Schlicht), Ella Kirschke (200 back; 2:01.17), sophomore Rachel Rhee (200 free; 1:52.03), and Grover in the 50 free.

The Bruins were runner-up in all but one of the relay races, taking third in the 200 free at 1:34.26. UCLA was edged out by USC in the 400 medley relay (3:45.72), 200 medley relay (1:44.54), and 400 free relay (3:29.80).
