SALT LAKE CITY, Utah -- Tenth-ranked Utah defeated Arizona in straight sets for the second straight match on Sunday, defeating the Wildcats 25-13, 25-13, 25-16 in the match. The victory for the Utes secured the weekend sweep.

Utah hit an incredible .368 for the match while holding Arizona to a .106 figure. The Utes also had the advantage from the service line (9 aces to 4) and at the new (6 blocks to 2).

The Wildcats were led by a pair of freshmen outside hitters; Jaelyn Hodge had a team-high six kills while Sofia Maldonado Diaz had five. The duo had four digs and one block each as well. UA's freshman setter, Emery Herman, led the team in both assists (12) and digs (8). Senior outside hitter Paige Whipple finished with five kills in the match.

Utah had 15 kills with no errors in the first set, hitting a blazing .600 in dominant 25-13 win.

The Utes stayed hot in the second set, running away with another 25-13 win.

Arizona's best effort came in the third, but the Utes still proved to be too much for the young Wildcats to handle in a 25-16 victory to secure the sweep.

Arizona will now return home to host Washington on Friday for UA's Pac-12 opener. The Cats host the Huskies Friday (5 p.m.) and Saturday (6:30 p.m.) in McKale Center.
