USC's Evan Mobley Named Pac-12 Freshman Of The Week, Ties Record

USC freshman forward Evan Mobley has been named the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week for the Week of Jan. 18-24, it was announced by the Conference today (Jan. 25).  It is the fourth Pac-12 Freshman of the Week honor for Mobley who was also selected the week of Nov. 30-Dec. 6, Dec. 7-13 and Jan. 4-10.  Mobley's fourth weekly honor ties the Pac-12 record also held by Isaiah Stewart (Washington - 2020) and Zeke Nnaji (Arizona - 2020).  The Pac-12 Freshman of the Week Award began with the 2019-20 season and USC has picked up six weekly honors, tying Arizona for the most in the two-year history of the award..

The 7-foot forward helped USC achieve a road split by averaging a double-double of 18.5 points and 10.5 rebounds.  He also averaged 2.5 assists and 2.0 blocks in the two games, while shooting 52.4 percent from the floor and 82.4 percent from the free throw line.

Mobley scored a season-best 25 points and had eight rebounds in the 76-68 win at California on Jan. 23. He scored eight of USC's final 12 points as the Trojans pulled away from the Bears.  Mobley made 12 of 15 free throws in the game.

He posted his Pac-12-leading sixth double-double in the 58-56 setback at Oregon State on Jan. 19, scoring 12 points and matching a season best with 13 rebounds.

Mobley just keeps adding on to his 2020-21 accolades which include being named to the Wooden Award Midseason Watch List, the 2021 NABC Player of the Year Watch List, the 2021 Naismith Trophy Watch List, the 2021 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Center of the Year Award Watch List and being named to the 2020-21 Pac-12 Men's Basketball Preseason Media All-Conference First Team.  

Through the first 15 games of his collegiate career Mobley is averaging 16.5 points, 8.6 rebounds and 2.9 blocks per game.  Mobley's 44 blocks already rank him fourth on USC's all-time freshman blocks list.
