Scharf, Mangahas Earn Pac-12 Weekly Awards

2020-21 Awards and Honors For Sun Devil Athletics

SAN FRANCISCO – The Gym Devils earned two Pac-12 weekly awards with sophomore Hannah Scharf being named the gymnast of the week and freshman Jada Mangahas getting the coaches choice.
 
This is the second week in a row Arizona State has been represented in the weekly awards. Last week, Sarah Clark was named the freshman of the week. For Scharf, this is her second conference weekly award after being named the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week in 2020. Additionally, this is the first time a Sun Devil earned the Pac-12 Gymnast of the Week title since 2009 when Beate Jones got the nod.
 
Scharf continues bring in great scores for the Gym Devils. At UCLA over the weekend, she won the all-around title with a score of 39.475. She did not score below a 9.850 in any event and her 9.875 on vault and bars were season highs. This was her second all-around title in a row.
 
Mangahas had her best meet so far at UCLA. She scored new career bests on vault (9.800) and floor (9.850). She made her collegiate debut on beam, scoring a 9.775 after being put into the lineup right before the final rotation.
