MVB 2021 Schedule Is Set
LOS ANGELES - The No. 9 UCLA men's volleyball team announced its 2021 schedule on Wednesday which includes 20 matches, all against Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) opponents. The first of 10 home matches will be on Friday morning, January 29 against Grand Canyon University in Pauley Pavilion presented by Wescom.
Six of the seven MPSF teams were ranked in the pre-season American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) poll. BYU, which posted a 17-1 overall record in 2020, topped the AVCA listing. Pepperdine was rated seventh with UCLA pulling down the ninth spot. The Bruins' season-opening opponent, GCU, was ranked 10th. Concordia, Irvine, at No. 12, and Stanford, at No. 15, filled out the list of MPSF schools in the poll.
The initial serve for the 2021 season is set for Friday at 11 a.m. against Grand Canyon University. The match originally scheduled with USC for Jan. 30 has been postponed. UCLA heads out on the road in week two to play a pair of matches at No. 1-rated BYU on February 4 and 6.
UCLA will host USC on Feb. 13 before welcoming Concordia, Irvine for matches on February 25 and March 2. Back-to-back home dates against Stanford are set for March 5 and 6. Pepperdine is scheduled to come to Westwood on March 11. The Bruins will close the home schedule and the regular season in battles against BYU on April 9 and 10.
All home matches are scheduled to be held this season in Pauley Pavilion presented by Wescom.
The MPSF post-season tournament is to be conducted on April 22-24 with further details on site and match times to be determined.
