USC's Evan Mobley Named To Naismith Defensive Player Of The Year Watch List

LOS ANGELES — USC freshman forward Evan Mobley has been named to the 2020-21 Naismith Men's Defensive Player of the Year Watch List it was announced by the Atlanta Tipoff Club today (Jan. 28).

Mobley is one of 15 players which have been selected for the Watch List, and the only freshman.  Mobley is also just one of three underclassmen up for the award and the only Pac-12 player to make the list.

The 7-foot freshman is averaging 16.5 points, 8.6 rebounds and 2.9 blocks per game.  Mobley's 44 blocked shots rank fourth on USC's all-time freshman shots blocked list and are tied for the fifth-most in the country this season.  His 129 rebounds and his block total both lead all Pac-12 players.

Mobley just keeps adding on to his 2020-21 accolades which include being named to the Wooden Award Midseason Watch List, the 2021 NABC Player of the Year Watch List, the 2021 Naismith Trophy Watch List, the 2021 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Center of the Year Award Watch List, being named to the 2020-21 Pac-12 Men's Basketball Preseason Media All-Conference First Team and being a four-time selection as Pac-12 Freshman of the Week.
