Baseball Announces 2021 Schedule

Jan 29, 2021

SALT LAKE CITY – Utah baseball has released its 2021 schedule as the Pac-12 conference announced the weekly matchups and site designations for the 2021 baseball schedule.

In total, Utah will play 51 games this season with 22 of those scheduled to be played at Smith's Ballpark. The Pac-12 schedule entails 10 three-game series spanning 11 weeks starting March 19-May 29.

"As a program, we're really excited that we're going to have a chance to play a full season," head coach Bill Kinneberg said. "After last year and all the modifications that are going on, the ability to have a chance to play a regular schedule is very appealing to us. We understand there will be bumps in the road, but the best thing about it is we have the opportunity to play a full 15 weeks."

Utah will open the season with three series on the road starting with UTSA in San Antonio, Texas February 19- February 21. They will then play Loyola Marymount in Los Angeles, California February 26-28 before playing a non-conference series against Arizona State in Tempe, Arizona March 5-7.

Next up, the Utes will play a three-game series with BYU where they go to Provo and play on Thursday, March 11 and Saturday, March 13. For the second game of the series, they will host BYU for their first home game on Friday, March 12.

The Utes and Cougars will play two more times during the season on April 27 and May 18. Where those will be played will be decided when the Salt Lake Bees release their schedule to avoid a conflict. The location of the two games against Utah Valley on April 20 and May 12 will also be made at that time.

Pac-12 play begins with Utah heading to Palo Alto to take on the Stanford Cardinal on March 19.

Their first home Pac-12 series will be against Cal March 26-28. The other home series are against Washington State starting April 9, Arizona State starting April 23, Oregon starting May 14 and USC in the last series of the season starting on May 27.

Utah is hosting Northern Colorado for a series May 8-10.

All of the midweek contests this season will be against teams from Utah in Dixie State, Utah Valley and BYU.

A season ago, Utah finished the year 6-7 right as they were about to start Pac-12 play against Arizona State. They won two out of three against Minnesota to have some momentum heading into conference play before the rest of the season got canceled.

From that team, Utah lost a few members in catcher Zack Moeller, pitcher Jacob Rebar and outfielder Briley Knight, but return almost everyone else led by Friday-night starter Justin Kelly and catcher Jayden Kiernan.

Kelly had a 2.66 ERA in four game started and Kiernan finished last season hitting .314 and led the team in RBI with 11.

Television details will be announced at a later date.
