Buffs Picked 24th In IWLCA Preseason Poll
BOULDER — For the fourth straight season, the University of Colorado lacrosse team is ranked in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Preseason Poll, which was released Monday.
The Buffaloes are picked 24th after finishing the condensed 2020 season with a 3-2 record.
North Carolina is the preseason favorite, having recorded all 25 first-place votes for 625 points and Notre Dame is second with 585 points. Syracuse sits at third (563), while Loyola Maryland is fourth (533). Northwestern rounds out the top five (529).
The Pac-12 Conference has a trio of teams in the preseason rankings. Southern California leads the way at 13th with 295 points, while Stanford comes in one position in front of CU at 23rd with 135 points. The Buffs recorded 98 points for 24th.
With the 2020 season cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic, seniors Julia Lisella and Anna Collawn will get another chance to redo their final seasons for the Buffs. Both returning starters, they are joined by eight other returning starters, including junior Charlie Rudy, who led CU with 24 points (20 goals and four assists) in five games, which was 30th in the NCAA. In the offseason, CU added an experienced defender in Kate White, a graduate transfer from Dartmouth.
The 2021 schedule will be announced soon.
