Chelsea Spencer Is Preparing Her Bears For The 2021 Campaign That Starts On Feb. 20

Schedule

BERKELEY – California alumna Chelsea Spencer's first season as head coach of the Golden Bear softball team will feature battles against five teams in the USA Today/NFCA Preseason Top 25 rankings during the 2021 season.

The Bears will open the campaign with a doubleheader at Sacramento State on Saturday, Feb. 20, before the home opener the next day with a doubleheader against Saint Mary's at Levine-Fricke Field.

Following another home date against Nevada on Sunday, March 7, Cal heads to Fresno State for a non-conference tournament (March 12-13).

The Bears will play three mid-week, non-conference games during Pac-12 play – at Pacific (March 17), vs. San Jose State (April 21) and vs. Santa Clara (April 28).

Entering conference play, Cal will host three of the five Pac-12 teams in the USA Today/NFCA Preseason Top 25 poll – No. 1 UCLA (March 26-28), No. 10 Oregon (May 13-15) and No. 16 Arizona State (April 23-25). The Bears will also host Utah (April 9-11) to round out the Pac-12 contests taking place in Berkeley.

The Bears will face two of the preseason top 25 squads on the road – No. 2 Washington (April 1-3) and No. 3 Arizona (April 30-May 2). Cal opens conference play with a trip to Corvallis, Oregon, to face Oregon State (March 19-21), and the Bears will rekindle their rivalry with Stanford on The Farm (April 16-18).

Each Pac-12 Conference series will consist of a four-game series in three days, with one day being a doubleheader. The second game of each doubleheader will be counted as a non-conference game, meaning the Bears will play a total of 32 games against league opponents, but only 24 will count towards determining the conference champion. If only three games are completed in a series, they will all count as conference games.

Due to local health guidelines, fans are not allowed to attend home games. Start times and TV selections will be announced at a later date.
