STARTING STRONG
Utah opened the 2021 season in style when the team swept Idaho State last Saturday 7-0. The Utes jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead after Utah's top two doubles teams rolled in their matches. Madeline Lamoreaux and Emily Dush blew by their opponents 6-1, while Anya Lamoreaux and Lindsay Hung secured the point after a 6-2 win. Going for the doubles sweep, Jasmine Rich and Anastasia Goncharova battled back into their match and were able to grab the 7-6 (4) victory.

It was all Utah in singles play where all six Utes won their respective matches in straight-sets. Madeline Lamoreaux played in the No. 1 spot, Dush in the No. 2 position and Goncharova as the third singles to complete the top half of the lineup. Dush, Anya Lamoreaux and Rich filled in the No. 4 through No. 6 spots, respectively.

SCOUTING NEW MEXICO STATE
New Mexico State is 0-1 this season with the loss coming from Arizona 6-1. The Aggies' No. 2 singles player Chloe Gavino picked up the sole win over the Wildcats to lead the way. Harsha Challa competed in both the top spot in singles and doubles play in the season opener. In the shortened 2020 season, New Mexico State posted a 2-6 overall record with the pair of wins coming over New Mexico and Montana State.

SCOUTING WEBER STATE
Weber State is coming off a season-opening loss to BYU 6-1 in Provo. The Wildcats saw the lone victory come from doubles action with their top two duos coming away with wins. Yuuna Ukita plays in the top spot in both singles and doubles. Weber State was 8-4 in 2020, including a 2-0 mark in Big Sky play. Utah last played Weber State in 2018 where the Utes won 4-1.
