Men’s Golf Makes Trip to St. George for Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invitational

THIS WEEK
The Utah Men's golf team will stay in the state of Utah to compete in a tournament for the first time since 2016-17 when they travel to St. George, Utah for the Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invitational. The tournament will span three days, Feb. 6-8, and will take place at the Sunbrook Golf Club.

THE FIELD
Utah will compete among a field of 12 teams, which includes Air Force, Dixie State, North Dakota, Northern Colorado, Oral Roberts, Sacramento State, Southern Illinois, Southern Utah, Utah State, Utah Valley and Weber State.

UTAH'S LINE-UP
The Utes five-man lineup will consist of senior Mitchell Schow, juniors Tristan Mandur and Blake Tomlinson, and freshmen Javier Barcos and Jesper von Reedtz.

Utah will also be sending three players to compete as individuals with redshirt freshmen Oscar Maxfield and Sam Tidd, and redshirt sophomore Colton Tanner. Tanner will look to defend his crown as he also won the Individual tournament in 2020 shooting 6-under par (138) after 36 holes.

"We're really excited to get back after a rough first tournament. It is a great opportunity to play eight of our players and I felt like we had a fantastic week of practice. The weather allowed us to be outside a couple of days and the boys are ready to compete. It should be a fun week."
 
TOURNAMENT DETAILS
Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invitational is a three-day tournament consisting of 54 holes with 18 being played each day. The tournament will begin Saturday February 6 and run through Monday, February 8. Players will tee off at 9:00 a.m. MT with a shotgun start format.

LAST TIME OUT
 Just over a week ago, the team competed in their first tournament of the season at the Arizona Intercollegiate. The event was held at the Sewailo Golf Club in Tucson Ariz. with a par of 71. The Ute's finished the three-day event in 16th after shooting 52-over as a team (904). Two Utes finished in the top-35 as Tomlinson tied for 28th after shooting 7-over par (220) and Mandur tied for 34th after shooting 9-over par (222).
