Keelah Barger Wins Cross Country Season Opener

TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona Cross Country opened up the 2021 season on Friday at the Arizona Invitational where Keelah Barger was the top finisher for the Wildcats. 

Barger clocked a time of 21:41.3 to win the women's 6k race by 10 seconds. The women placed three athletes in the top ten with freshman Grace Driskill finishing in fifth place and Peyton Heiden in 10th.

On the men's side, Shem Kemboi was the team's top finisher, placing sixth with a time of 25:47.9 in the 8k race. Freshman Galvin Curley joined Kemboi in the top ten, finishing in 10th overall.

Both the men's and women's side placed second at the meet, the women scoring a total of 34 points and the men tallying 48 points.
