Cross Country Women Place Second at Lewiston

LEWISTON, Idaho – The Washington State women's cross country program was in action Saturday afternoon, competing at the Idaho Orchards Invitational, hosted by the University of Idaho.

The Washington State women's program, currently ranked 10th in the west region, totaled 38 points in this event, placing second overall as a team. 

WSU was led on the day by freshman Neema Kimtai who finished second overall with a time of 17:00.8 in the race. Following Kimtai was redshirt junior Erin Mullins in fourth overall with a time of 17:11.4. The Cougars then saw Alaina Stone Boggs cross the finish line in ninth place with a time of 17:34.9. Washington State then saw Caroline Jerotich finish 11th (17:49.2) and Zorana Grujic at 12th overall (17:54.0). The Cougs were then rounded out by Jelena Grujic in 14th (18:10.0), Samantha Boyle in 15th (18:16.9), Kerstin Ly in 16th (18:16.9), Pia Richards in 20th (18:30.9), and finally Kiyena Beatty (19:10.6) crossing the line at 30th overall. 

Idaho took the top spot at 31 points in this race, followed by Cougs at 38 points, Montana in third with 58 points and finally Eastern Washington in fourth at 108 points.

WSU Cross Country returns to action next, Friday, Feb. 19 at the LCC Cross Country Invitational, hosted by the University of Oregon and will see the Cougs traveling to Eugene, Oregon.
