SEATTLE – The #8 Washington Huskies rolled to another shutout victory, defeating Gonzaga 3-0. Washington scored three times in the first 25 minutes of the game, then controlled possession the rest of the way to move to 2-0-0.
Lucas Meek scored twice for the Huskies, giving him five points already after he picked up an assist in the season-opener against Northwest. Dylan Teves had three assists, the first Husky with a three-assist game since 1999, while Imanol Rosales scored the first goal for Washington and added an assist on Meek's first goal. Christian Soto and Ryan Crowley also had assists.
Jacob Castro made his Husky debut in goal, saving the only shot he faced for a shutout half of soccer. Sam Fowler played the second half, keeping a clean sheet for Washington's second straight shutout.
After outshooting Northwest 31-0 in the season opener, Washington outshot Gonzaga 15-5 today, include 11-1 in shots on goal.
