SEATTLE – The #8 Washington Huskies rolled to another shutout victory, defeating Gonzaga 3-0. Washington scored three times in the first 25 minutes of the game, then controlled possession the rest of the way to move to 2-0-0.

Lucas Meek scored twice for the Huskies, giving him five points already after he picked up an assist in the season-opener against Northwest. Dylan Teves had three assists, the first Husky with a three-assist game since 1999, while Imanol Rosales scored the first goal for Washington and added an assist on Meek's first goal. Christian Soto and Ryan Crowley also had assists.

Jacob Castro made his Husky debut in goal, saving the only shot he faced for a shutout half of soccer. Sam Fowler played the second half, keeping a clean sheet for Washington's second straight shutout.

After outshooting Northwest 31-0 in the season opener, Washington outshot Gonzaga 15-5 today, include 11-1 in shots on goal.

 SCORING
  • 7' | Rosales got on the end of a lovely run, scoring his first of the season. Soto flicked the ball along to Teves to keep the defense on the run, with Teves feeding Rosales.
  • 18' | Rosales and Teves were once again in on the scoring just ten minutes later. This time, Rosales had the initial shot that was tipped by the keeper. Teves followed up with a shot that was saved away, only for Meek to get on it and push it home.
  • 25' | A long throw from Charlie Ostrem pushed the Husky lead to 3-0. Ostrem's throw bounced around to Crowley, who fired a shot that was blocked. Once again, Meek was in the right place, getting the rebound goal.

 NOTES
  • Teves became the first Husky since Jake Sagare in 1999 to have a three-assist game.

  • Since going scoreless the first two games of his career, Meek has not gone multiple games in a row without a point since.
  • Fowler has been a part of ten shutouts in his 15 career appearances.

  • This is the fourth consecutive year the Huskies have started at least 2-0-0.
