Bruins, Spitz T-2 at Lamkin Invitational
RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. - Sophomore Emma Spitz tied for second at the Lamkin Invitational, while the Bruins tied for second as a team. UCLA shot a 25-over 313 in its final round at The Farms Golf Club on Tuesday, finishing at +40 (904).
Spitz completed her three rounds at 1-under 215, one of only three players under par, finishing one stroke back. On Tuesday, she shot a 3-over 75, making birdies on the par-5 18th, par-4 10th and par-3 fifth, adding four bogeys and a double.
Sophomore Emilie Paltrinieri tied for 10th (+9, 225). She shot a 7-over 79 in her final round, posting birdies on the par-5 12th and par-3 14th holes, adding four bogeys, a double and a triple.
Sophomore Annabel Wilson posted the low round of the day for the Bruins, shooting a 1-over 73. She finished solo 17th (+12, 228). Wilson made three birdies on Tuesday on the par-5 18th, par-4 eighth and par-3 16th, adding two bogeys and a double. Junior Simar Singh was 33rd (+20, 236), shooting a final-round 86 (+14) on six bogeys and four doubles. Junior Phoebe Yue tied for 54th (+40, 256), shooting a final-round 90 (+18). She made a pair of birdies on the par-5 12th and par-4 eighth to go with eight bogeys, a double and three more holes with dropped shots.
The Bruins are back in action next week at the Sun Devil Winter Classic. The tournament will be played Monday, Feb. 15 through Wednesday, Feb. 17 at the Talking Stick Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.
