February Slate Announced
STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford softball has announced its nonconference schedule for the month of February, with the 2021 season opening at home on Feb. 19. The Pac-12 announced weekly matchups and locations for the conference slate on Feb. 2, and Stanford will announce the remainder of the nonconference schedule as updates become available.
The Cardinal will play nine games over the final two weeks of February, with eight being held at home. Stanford will host San Jose State for a three-game series, Friday and Saturday, before closing the weekend out with a single game against Santa Clara on Sunday. The Broncos will host Stanford that following Tuesday for one game.
Stanford will host California and Cal Baptist the following weekend, Feb. 26-28, with games against California not counting towards the Pac-12 standings.
The Stanford softball program returned to campus on Jan. 23 to complete its mandatory 10-day travel quarantine and medical onboarding process in preparation for the 2021 season.
Additionally, Santa Clara County returned to the Purple Tier and subsequently updated its Mandatory Directive for Collegiate and Professional Sports, allowing Stanford to resume training and competition involving contact, close proximity and equipment sharing, both indoors and outdoors.
While Stanford Athletics will continue striving to create an opportunity for student-athletes to compete in their upcoming season, all decisions regarding training and competition will be based on the conditions and the guidance provided to us by public health officials and our university administration. Accordingly, all competition dates are subject to change.
The Pac-12 Conference recently determined it would continue its prohibition on fan attendance at Pac-12 sport competitions taking place on Pac-12 campuses until further notice. Additionally, Santa Clara County's latest directive does not allow spectators to attend any practice, competition or other athletics event.
