Hart Earns Sixth-Career Pac-12 Player of the Week Award
SAN FRANCISCO – Graduate student Jada Hart was named Pac-12 Player of the Week Tuesday, giving UCLA women's tennis back-to-back honors to begin the season.
The award was presented for the week of Feb. 1-7, during which Hart defeated two ranked singles opponents and the Bruins left the ITA National Team Indoor Championships in Stillwater, Okla. with wins over a pair of top-10 squads.
On Sunday, Hart bested No. 45 Lexi Ryngler of Pepperdine with ease, 6-1, 6-3, to break a 1-1 tie. The Bruins went on to beat the No. 5 Waves, 4-2. Saturday's semifinal-round tilt with No. 3 Texas saw Hart bounce back from her first doubles loss of the season to beat No. 94 Lulu Sun in comeback fashion, 1-6, 6-2, 6-4.
Hart has now earned six-career weekly awards from the conference, with the latest representing her first since April 2, 2019. The UCLA women's tennis program, meanwhile, increased its total to 32 Pac-12 Players of the Week. Hart's doubles partner, Elysia Bolton, picked up the year's first honor.
Additionally, Hart was voted to the ITA Indoors All-Tournament Team Wednesday by the event's participating coaches. She filled the No. 3 singles spot, while teammates Abi Altick and Taylor Johnson were selected for the third doubles court.
