USC's Evan Mobley Named To The Naismith Trophy Mid-Season Team

USC men's basketball freshman forward Evan Mobley has been named to the Naismith Trophy Mid-Season Team for Men's Player of the Year, it was announced by the Atlanta Tipoff Club today (Feb. 11).  The list is comprised of 30 student-athletes who are the current front-runners for the Player of the Year.

The 7-0 Mobley is averaging 16.3 points, 9.0 rebounds and 2.9 blocks per game through USC's first 18 games of the season.  His 53 total blocks rank fourth on USC's all-time freshman shots blocked list and are tied for the sixth most in the country this season.  Mobley leads all Pac-12 players in rebounds (162), blocks and double-doubles (8).  

Among Division I freshmen men's basketball players, Mobley ranks in the top five in blocks per game (1st, 2.9), double-doubles (2nd, 8), field goal percentage (3rd, 58.3 percent) free throw attempts (2nd, 107), rebounds per game (2nd, 9.0), free throws made (2nd, 77), offensive rebounds per game (5th, 3.17) and points per game (4th, 16.3).

Mobley just keeps adding on to his 2020-21 accolades which include being named to the 2021 Wooden Award Late-Season Watch List, 2021 NABC Player of the Year Watch List, an Abdul-Jabbar Award finalist, a Naismith Defensive Player of the Year Award Watch List finalist, being named to the 2020-21 Pac-12 Men's Basketball Preseason Media All-Conference First Team and being named a five-time selection as Pac-12 Freshman of the Week.
