EUGENE, Ore. -- Arizona dropped game 1 of its weekend two-game series at Oregon, falling in straight sets (25-19, 25-17, 25-15) on Friday afternoon in Matthew Knight Arena.
The Wildcats struggled to stop Oregon's offense, which hit .320 in the match, compared to Arizona's .119 mark for the match.
Paige Whipple led the Wildcats in her return to her home state. The Salem, Oregon native had a team-best eight kills.
Arizona's middles were solid in the match as well, combining for 10 kills on just 21 swings. Both Zyonna Fellows and China Rai Crouch finished with five kills in the match.
The Wildcats fell to 2-5 (2-5 Pac-12) on the season with the loss while Oregon improved to 5-2 (5-2 Pac-12). The two teams meet again on Sunday at 12 p.m. MST.
