Utah Swim Trails USC After First Day Of Road Dual Meet

LOS ANGELES- The Utah men's swim team opened the final dual meet of the 2021 season on Friday night and trail the USC Trojans 95-36 after the first half of events were competed at the Uytengsu Aquatics Center in Los Angeles.
 
To start off the meet, the 200 medley relay team of Andrei Ungur, Andrew Britton, Ben Waterman, and Santi Conteras took second with a time of 1:27.46.  In the next event, Rhys Winter had an impressive performance and placed second in the 1650 free with a time of 15:48.84 to lead the Utes.
 
Picking up more podium spots, Ungur came in second in the 100 back (48.11), while JP Hynes followed in third place (49.32). Lex Hernandez-Nietling placed second in the 100 breast after a personal best time (54.83), Waterman took third in the 200 fly (1:47.22) and Conteras placed fifth in the 50 free (20.54) to lead all Utes in the respective events. 
 
In the 200 free, Chris Allen took fifth with a time of 1:39.04 to place as the top Ute. Behind Hernandez-Nietling in the 100 breast, Britton tallied a fourth-place finish (55.15).

Noah Carlson finished just behind Waterman in the 200 fly, coming in with a personal best time of 1:47.25 to finish fourth. Sam Lucas also posted a personal best after finishing with a time of 1:51.23 to place behind Lucas in fifth. For full results, click here.
 
The men's swim team will continue with the second half of events Saturday at 12 p.m. MT in Los Angeles to close out the dual meet.
