SEATTLE – The Washington State University Track and Field program saw wins from both the women's and men's squads Friday at the UW Invitational inside the Dempsey Indoor.
Leading the opening day of the UW Invitational for the Washington State women was Anna Rodgers who posted a victory in the long jump with a mark of 18-feet 8 inches (5.69m). The women's high jump saw some fierce competition between Cougs, as Kaylee Sowle, Aislinn Overby, and Suzy Pace each finished in first with a clearance of 5-feet 7 1/4 inches (1.71m). Day one wrapped up for the WSU women with the 3000-meter event, as Erin Mullins led the way for the Cougars with a personal best of 9:39.06, finishing 16th overall.
The WSU men picked up multiple wins during day one also, as Mitch Jacobson took home first place overall in the high jump with a mark of 6-feet 11 inches (2.11m). Joseph Heitman secured the Cougar victory in the long jump with a mark of 21-feet 3/4 inches (6.42m) on the day as well. The Cougar men concluded day one action with the 5km, as Colton Johnsen posted a personal best of 13:43.72 and a fourth place finish. Johnsen's time of 13:43.72 is also the fifth best time in the nation currently in the event as well.
