Bruins Back in Action at Sun Devil Winter Classic
TEMPE, Ariz. - The Bruins kick off another week with another tournament, as they are back in Arizona for the Sun Devil Winter Classic at Talking Stick Golf Club. The three-day, 54-hole tournament will be played Monday through Wednesday at the par-72, 6,482-yard layout.
The starting fivesome for UCLA will be juniors Simar Singh and Phoebe Yue and sophomores Emilie Paltrinieri, Emma Spitz and Annabel Wilson. The Bruins begin round one at 7:45 a.m. MT/6:45 a.m. PT on Monday in the order of Yue, Singh, Wilson, Paltrinieri and Spitz. Live scoring will be available here.
Joining the Bruins and host Arizona State in the all Pac-12 field are Arizona, California, Colorado, Oregon, Oregon State, USC, Washington and Washington State, as Stanford is the lone league team not playing in the event.
The Bruins will be looking to improve on their solo second and tied for second finishes in their first two events. UCLA shot a 15-over 591 in the three-team Match in the Desert in Gold Canyon, Ariz. (Jan. 24-25) and is coming off a T-2 showing (+40, 904) at the Lamkin Invitational (Feb. 8-9) in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.
Spitz tied for second at the Lamkin Invitational, completing her three rounds as one of only three players under par at 1-under 215, finishing one stroke back. She tied for third at The Match in the Desert (E, 144).
Paltrinieri tied for 10th (+9, 225) at the Lamkin, Wilson finished solo 17th (+12, 228), Singh was 33rd (+20, 236) and Yue tied for 54th (+40, 256). In their last trip to Arizona, Paltrinieri and Wilson each tied for seventh (+4, 148) and Singh and Yue both tied for 12th (+8, 152).
