STANFORD, Calif. – Led by Kendall Kipp's 15 kills, No. 15 Stanford earned its first win of the season with a 25-15, 25-21, 25-13 sweep over California, Sunday, at Maples Pavilion.

The Cardinal (1-3) hit a season-high .378, while holding the Golden Bears (1-7) to a .049 clip. Stanford limited Cal to just 27 kills and 31.0 points in the match. The Cardinal registered 10.0 blocks, six aces and 37 digs as a team.

Kipp hit a season-high .571, totaling 15 kills on 21 swings with just three errors. The sophomore also collected six digs and three blocks.

Senior Meghan McClure, who missed the first three matches of the season due to COVID protocol, returned and was a steady presence for the passers. The outside hitter finished with six kills, eight digs and an ace in her season debut.

Sophomore setter Selina Xu controlled the offense with 35 assists to go with four blocks and two kills. Freshman libero Elena Oglivie recorded a match-high 11 digs and had a career-high three aces.

Redshirt freshman outside hitter Caitie Baird was second on the team with nine kills on .250 hitting, six digs and two blocks. Redshirt freshman middle blocker McKenna Vicini added eight kills, hitting .375, and three blocks, while freshman middle blocker Annabelle Smith had four kills and a match-best seven blocks.

Stanford remains at home next week, playing host to Washington State on Friday, Feb. 19 at 2 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 21 at 1 p.m.
