Sharts Earns Pac-12 Honor

Feb 15, 2021

SAN FRANCISCO — Colorado defender Hannah Sharts was selected as the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.

The junior from Newbury Park, Calif., scored the first goal of the season for CU in the Buffs' 3-0 win over Northern Colorado last Thursday. Her tally in the 68th minute clinched the game for Colorado. The goal came off a corner kick and found Sharts at the left post for the tap-in.

Sharts, a captain along the backline, also helped keep Northern Colorado off the board. The shutout over UNC was CU's second of the season. The Buffs' defense has held its first two opponents scoreless for 187 minutes this season.

This is the first career weekly honor for Sharts. It's the first time a CU defender has been honored since Kelsey Aakness won the award on Sept. 11, 2018.

Colorado is back in action this week, taking on Weber State. Kickoff is set for noon on Saturday.
