USC's Evan Mobley Earns Sixth Pac-12 Freshman Of The Week Honor
USC freshman forward Evan Mobley has been named the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week for the week of Feb. 8-14, it was announced by the Conference today (Feb. 15). Mobley earned his sixth Freshman of the Week honor, extending his conference record.
Mobley led USC to a road sweep of the Washington schools while averaging 18.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, 5.0 blocks and 2.0 assists. Mobley made 62.5 percent of his field goals for the week. In the 69-54 win at Washington on Feb. 11, he led USC with 17 points on 8 of 11 shooting and had seven rebounds, three assists and four blocks. In the 76-65 win at Washington State on Feb. 13, he posted his Pac-12 leading ninth double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds. He also matched a season best with six blocked shots against the Cougars.
Mobley just keeps adding on to his 2020-21 accolades which include being named to the Wooden Award Late Season Top 20 Watch List, the 2021 NABC Player of the Year Watch List, the 2021 Naismith Trophy Watch List, a 2021 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Center of the Year Award finalist, a Naismith Defensive Player of the Award Watch List finalist and being named to the 2020-21 Pac-12 Men's Basketball Preseason Media All-Conference First Team.
Through the first 20 games of his collegiate career Mobley is averaging 16.6 points, 9.0 rebounds and 3.15 blocks per game. Mobley's 63 blocks already rank him third on USC's all-time freshman blocks list and ninth on its overall all single-season list. Also, Mobley's block total ranks second among Division I players.
