Ducks Look For Strong Finish at The Prestige

Feb 16, 2021

LA QUINTA, Calif. – Oregon will eye a strong finish in the final round of The Prestige on Wednesday after shooting 17 over to drop to 19th place after Tuesday's second round at the Greg Norman Course at PGA West. Jake Sollon shot a 4-under 68 for the second straight day at The Prestige Individual Invitational at nearby Coral Mountain Golf Club, and is in fourth place, four shots off the lead after 36 holes.

How It Happened: Sollon kept his hot play going right off the bat with a birdie at the par-4 first hole before picking up another one at the par-5 third to get to 6 under overall. He dropped a shot at the par-4 seventh and made the turn at 1 under for the round. The senior transfer got to 2 under with a birdie at 12, then closed with three birdies and a bogey in his final four holes to shoot 3 under coming in.

Craig Ronne led the way for the Ducks in the starting lineup, shooting a 1-over 72 to move to 3 over for the tournament. He was 2 under for his round after 12 holes, but stumbled a bit down the stretch, with a double bogey at the par-3 13th and a bogey at 17 to drop back over par for the day.

Owen Avrit shot a 3-over par 74 and is tied for 61st at 5 over for the week, and Tom Gueant turned in a 6-over 77, highlighted by an eagle at the par-4 11th hole. Yuki Moriyama and Nate Stember each shot a 7-over 78.
