USC Men's Golf Finishes 14th At The Prestige
Senior Leon D'Souza completed his most consistent three days of play this season, finishing with a 72, to lead the USC men's golf team on the final day of The Prestige on Wednesday (Feb. 17) at PGA West's Greg Normal Course in La Quinta, Calif.
The Trojans finished 14th at 25-over 877 (287-299-291) in the 24-team field. Arizona and North Carolina tied for first at 4-under, Pepperdine third at 3-under. They were the only three teams under par.
D'Souza tied for 36th at 5-over 218 (73-73-72), his final round including two birdies. Fellow senior Kaito Onishi tied for 44th at 6-over 219 (71-74-74) and also birdied twice today.
Freshman Shane Ffrench tied for 53rd at 7-over 220 (72-75-73), junior Cameron Henry tied for 79th at 10-over 223 (71-77-75) and sophomore Tyler Guo tied for 82nd at 11-over 224 (74-78-72).
"I think there's a lot we're doing well, but we were pretty sloppy at times today and had a lot pf penalty shots and other loose shots," USC Head Coach J.T. Higgins said. "There are things we need to do better but at the same time you can see the growth and that we're getting better. But when it's a perfect day for scoring like today, we need to take advantage of it."
