Charisma Taylor Dominates Matador Qualifier

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Washington State University Track and Field program saw incredible success from the squad sent down south, led by Charisma Taylor.
Taylor anchored the Cougs during the meet, posting the best qualifying time in the 60-meter hurdles at 8.27. Charisma then followed that up with a personal best, WSU all-time record, and Matador Qualifier record time of 8.16 in the event as well. The previous best in the event in WSU women's history was also by Taylor at 8.19. Charisma then finished up her day in the triple jump, posting yet another meet record with a mark of 44-feet 1 1/2 inches (13.45m), and winning the event in the process as well.
The Washington men's competitors did not disappoint either in Texas, beginning with the 60-meter hurdles where Sam Brixey notched yet another win in the event this indoor season with a time of 7.81 overall. Just behind Brixey was Nick Johnson in second place with a time of 7.99 as well. The men's squad was capped off on the day by Mitch Jacobson in the high jump, where he would finish second overall, recording a season-best mark of 6-feet 11 1/2 inches (2.12m).

Triple Jump:  Charisma Taylor – 44-1 1/2 [13.45m] (1st)

60m Hurdles:  Sam Brixey – 7.81 (1st); Nick Johnson – 7.99 (2nd)
High Jump:  Mitch Jacobson – 6-11 1/2 [2.12m] (2nd)


Washington State returns to action next, Thursday, Feb. 25, when the Cougars head to Seattle to compete in the Husky classic throughout the weekend.
