ST. GEORGE, Utah – The #2 Washington Huskies rolled to a 9-0 run-rule victory over Dixie State Friday. The Huskies allowed just one hit in the game, with eight different Huskies recording a hit.

Gabbie Plain was electric in the circle en route to her 18th career double-digit strikeout game. Plain struck out the first five batters she faced, with her first ten outs all coming via strikeout. She allowed just 3 balls in play and only one hit on the day.

In all, Plain would end the day with 14 of her 15 outs coming via strikeout. That was just one off of her career high in strikeouts. Dixie State would have only three baserunners: one each via hit, error, and hit by pitch.

Washington's powerful start to the year continued as three different Huskies homered. Baylee Klingler, Noelle Hee, and Morganne Flores all went yard for Washington. Kelley Lynch had two doubles on the day, driving in two runs.

  • First Inning: With runners on first and third, Sis Bates stole home as Sami Reynolds drew the throw to second, making it 1-0. Flores hit a solo shot later in the inning to double the lead.
  • Third Inning: For the sixth time in eight games, Klingler went deep, this time a solo shot to lead off the inning and make it 3-0. Soon thereafter, Lynch laced a two-run double and Quiñones singled to left for another run. Lilly Agan's first career RBI, coming via groundout, made it 7-0.
  • Fourth Inning: Coming off the bench, Hee demolished the ball for a two-run home run.
  • Plain (5.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 14 K) has a 0.41 ERA with 32 strikeouts and eight baserunners allowed in her three starts this season.
  • Plain's last five starts for Washington have all been run-rule victories.
  • Flores (1x2, 2 R, HR, RBI) joined Kristen Rivera, Jaime Clark, Ali Aguilar, and Kylee Lahners as the only Huskies ever with 50 home runs in their careers.
  • Klingler (1x2, R, HR, RBI) surpassed her 2020 home run total in just the eighth game of the season.
  • Klingler moved into a tie for the NCAA lead in home runs.
  • Reynolds (2x2, 2 R) reach 100 career hits in her 89th game. The only Huskies to do so faster are Sis Bates, Ashley Charters, Dominique Lastrapes, and Jaime Clark.
  • Both of Quiñones' (1x2, RBI) hits this year have driven in runs.

Washington plays one game tomorrow, against Utah State at 3:00 pm PT. There will be no video stream for that game.
