Teoh, Bling Both Under Par on Day One in Palm Desert

PALM DESERT, Calif. - Junior Bryan Wiyang Teoh and senior Devon Bling both shot under-par rounds on Friday during the first round of the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate at the Classic Club.

As a team, the Bruins shot a 3-under 285 and are in solo fifth place after 18 holes.

Teoh made six birdies in his opening round on the par-5 fourth, par-4 fifth, eighth and 16th holes and par-3 12th and 17th, posting only two bogeys in a 4-under 68. He is tied for third, three strokes back of the overall lead.

Bling is one shot behind Teoh after recording a 3-under 69 (T-10). He made four birdies on the par-5 fourth, 14th and 18th holes and the par-4 seventh, notching only one bogey.

Sophomore Mason Greene is tied for 43rd following a 1-over 73. He made five birdies on the par-5 ninth, par-4 third, 13th and 16th and par-3 second holes, four bogeys and a double. Freshman Ty Griggs (T-67) shot a 3-over 75, recording a pair of birdies on the par-5 fourth and par-4 eighth holes and five bogeys. Junior Ahmed Ali (T-109) posted an 8-over 80 on four bogeys and two doubles.

The Bruins begin round two on Saturday at 7:50 a.m. off the first tee in the order of Ali, Griggs, Greene, Bling and Teoh.
