GymDawgs Win On The Road

Feb 20, 2021

TUCSON, AZ – The Washington GymDawgs won their first meet of the season, taking down the Arizona Wildcats on the road. The GymDawgs won every event for the first time since March 6, 2020. Katie McNamara, Amara Cunningham, Skylar Killough-Wilhelm, and Geneva Thompson all earned event titles in the meet. McNamara and Killough-Wilhelm each came away with multiple event titles.

McNamara and Killough-Wilhelm became the first Washington freshmen to earn an event title since 2017.
McNamara led the way for the GymDawgs, winning the vault and all-around titles. She scored a career-high 9.875 on vault. That routine helped her win the all-around with a score of 39.075, the first freshman since 2011 to win an all-around title.
Cunningham's score of 9.850 on floor gave her a share of the event title. This is the third week in a row that Cunningham has won the individual title. On vault, Cunningham had a 9.850, the second highest score on that event at the meet, behind only McNamara.
Killough-Wilhelm and Thompson both had a solid performance on bars, tying for the event title with a 9.850. Killough-Wilhelm matched her career-high: the last time she earned a score of 9.850 was earlier this season against Utah. On beam, Killough-Wilhelm earned a career-high 9.825 for another event title.
