PALM DESERT, Calif. - Senior Devon Bling shot a 4-under 68 on Sunday at The Classic Club to finish solo third, as the Bruins wrapped up play at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate.
As a team, UCLA placed tied for eighth at 8-over 872, shooting a 2-under 286 in the final round.
Bling had a lot of red on his scorecard on Sunday, making eight birdies. He gained strokes on the par-5 fourth, 14th and 18th holes, par-4 first, fifth, eighth and 13th holes and the par-3 17th, adding two bogeys and a double. Bling's 54-hole score was 7-under 209.
Junior Bryan Wiyang Teoh tied for eighth at 3-under 213. He posted a 1-under 71 in his final round, making four birdies on the par-5 fourth and 14th holes and the par-4 10th and 16th holes to go with three bogeys.
Sophomore Mason Greene tied for 45th (+5, 221), shooting an even-par 72. He made both of his birdies on Sunday on par-5s (fourth and ninth), adding 15 pars and one double bogey. Freshman Ty Griggs (T-78, +13, 229) posted a 3-over 75 in his final round, making four birdies on the par-4 first and eighth holes and the par-3 second and 12th to go with five bogeys and a double. Junior Ahmed Ali (111th, +32, 248) made one birdie (par-3 12th), six bogeys, two doubles and a triple in his final round (+12, 84).
The Bruins' next tournament is the Lamkin San Diego Classic (March 8-10) at the San Diego Country Club in Chula Vista, Calif.
