TUCSON, Ariz. -- Arizona freshman outside hitter Sofia Maldonado Diaz posted 24 kills on .314 hitting as the Cats defeated Oregon State in four sets (25-17, 25-21, 25-27, 25-14) to finish off a weekend sweep of the Beavers in McKale Center.

Maldonado Diaz's 24 kills were double the next highest total in the match, and marked the second most of her career, but the most in a four-set match. She added six digs and a block in the win. Fellow freshman outside hitter Jaelyn Hodge finished second on the team with 12 kills.

Following Friday night's sweep of Oregon State, the Wildcats struggled a bit out of the gate on Sunday, falling behind early in each of the first three sets. The Cats were able to erase four-point OSU leads in both the first, second and third sets, winning sets 1 and 2, but failed to convert a set point in the third in a 27-25 win for the Beavers. Arizona recovered to win the third set convincingly, 25-14.

Arizona hit .266 in the win while holding the Beavers to a .109 figure. In addition to their offensive advantage, UA also held a distinct edge from the service line, where the Cats out-aced Oregon State 6-3 in the match, including a career-high-tying three from sophomore Dilara Gedikoglu, who added seven kills, six digs and two blocks.

Sophomore libero Kamaile had a season-best 20 digs in the match.

Arizona improved to 4-6 (4-6 Pac-12) on the season with the weekend sweep of the Beavers, and 4-2 at home this year; the Cats have won their last four home matches. Oregon State fell to 3-7 (3-7 Pac-12).

Arizona will head to Los Angeles next weekend to face No. 15 UCLA on Friday and Sunday.
