Huskies End Weekend With 17-0 Victory

ST. GEORGE, Utah – The bats were out for the #2 Washington Huskies, who scored early and often in a 17-0 victory over Utah Valley. Washington's trio of Kelley Lynch, Jadelyn Allchin, and Kaija Gibson went a combined 9-for-9, driving in 13 runs.

Allchin had her first career multi-homer day and set a new career best with six RBI. Lynch, Gibson, and Sami Reynolds all homered as well, with Gibson hitting her first grand slam.

Every Husky starter reached base safely in the game, with eight of the nine recording hits. Nine different Huskies scored at least one run. Five scored multiple runs in the game.

In the circle, Gabbie Plain struck out ten in her 4.1 innings, allowing only one baserunner. She finished the game retiring 11 in a row before Pat Moore took the circle for the first two outs of the fifth. Plain would return for the game's final out, her tenth strikeout.

 

SCORING
  • First Inning: Reynolds ripped her fourth home run of the season, surpassing her 2020 total in 13 fewer games. A few batters later, Allchin ripped a two-run double to extend the lead to 3-0.
  • Second Inning: It was a huge inning for the Huskies, who would score eight times in the frame. After a strikeout to begin the inning, Washington put 11 consecutive batters on bases. The biggest hit of the inning came from Gibson, who hit her first career grand slam. The Huskies would score eight runs total to make it 11-0.
  • Third Inning: Allchin added to her career day with a two-run home run, scoring Lynch, who had doubled earlier.
  • Fourth Inning: Lynch hit her second home run of the season and tenth of her career, a two-run shot making it 15-0. Allchin followed that up with her second home run, her first career multi-homer day.
  • Fifth Inning: Baylee Klingler's second hit of the day, a double, brought in Washington's 17th run to end the scoring.
NOTES
  • Washington has outscored the opposition 28-6 in the first two innings this year.
  • Reynolds (2x3, 2 R, HR, 2 RBI) has driven in runs in three straight games, with five RBI in that time.
  • Klingler (2x3, R, 2B, RBI) has reached base safely six times in the eight times she has led off the game.
  • In her eight games batting leadoff, Klingler has scored 11 runs.
  • Allchin (4x4, 3 R, 2B, 2 HR, 6 RBI) has now exceeded her home run and RBI total from 2020 in 16 fewer games.
  • Allchin doubled her RBI total in today's game.

Washington will play at San Diego State next weekend, beginning with a doubleheader on Friday, February 26. Game one of that doubleheader will be at 4:00 pm.
