2021 Pac 12 Championships Day 1 Results

HOUSTON (Feb. 24, 2021) – Senior Taylor McCoy recorded a Top-10 time for Washington State in the opening night of the Pac-12 Conference Championships in Houston Wednesday.
The Cougars finished the first day in seventh place with 94 points after three events; one-meter diving, 800 free relay and 400 medley relay. Washington State does not compete in the diving events.
In the third and final event of the night, McCoy led off the 400 medley relay with a 54.75 in the 100 back, over a second faster than her previous best and good for the sixth-fastest time in program history.
"I thought we swam well today! We have a young program and we had some nerves tonight but everybody stepped up and performed better and better as the day went on," third-year head coach Matt Leach said. "Taylor McCoy led off both relays tonight and set some of her best times and that really got us going. Taylor's 100 Back was the sixth-fastest time in program history, it was an amazing start and I'm looking forward to even bigger performances as we move deeper in to the Pac-12 Championships. Go Cougs!"
The conference championships continue Thursday with three-meter diving, the 500 free, 200 IM and 50 free. The prelim session begins at 8:30 am (PT) before the finals at 4 p.m. (PT)
