4 Sun Devils Earn #1 Seed in Pac-12 Championships

SAN FRANCISCO – On Friday, the Pac-12 Conference office announced brackets for the 2021 Pac-12 Wrestling Championships. Brandon Courtney (125), Michael McGee (133), Kordell Norfleet (197) and Cohlton Schultz (HWT) are the No. 1 seeds for their respective weight classes.

Seven Sun Devils will begin their day after a first round bye.

Redshirt senior Anthony Valencia is the No. 4 seed in the 165 weight class. Valencia looks to join Eric Larkin and Markus Mollica as the only Sun Devil wrestlers with four Pac-12 titles.

No. 8 Arizona State will compete against Pac-12 foes Cal Poly, CSU Bakersfield, Oregon State, Stanford and University of Little Rock Arkansas on Sunday, Feb. 28.

Redshirt freshmen Julian Chlebove and Trey Munoz will step foot onto the Pac-12 Championship mats for the first time in their careers. Old Dominion transfer Michael McGee will also see his first west coast post-season tournament.

174- #20 Trey Munoz (4-1)(first round bye)

184- Cade Belshay (3-5)(first round bye)

197- #4 Kordell Norfleet (7-0)(first round bye)

HWT- #5 Cohlton Schultz (10-0)(first round bye)

The event, which begins at 12:30 p.m. MST, will be available to watch on live streams provided by Oregon State. Those streams can also be found on the Pac-12 Now app on smartphones and tablets.

The championship rounds will close out the day at 7 p.m., and will be available to watch live on the Pac-12 Networks, and the Pac-12 Now app.

The Pac-12 recently determined it would continue its prohibition on fan attendance at Pac-12 sport competitions taking place on Pac-12 campuses past January 1 and until further notice.
