Four Goals From Hilcoff Not Enough In Road Loss
MILWAUKEE — Sophomore Hanna Hilcoff continued her impressive start to her career with a four-goal performance on Friday night for the Oregon lacrosse team, but the Ducks were unable to generate anything else offensively in a 16-4 loss at Marquette.
How it Happened: Marquette (1-2) took a 2-0 lead five minutes into the game before Hilcoff got the Ducks (0-3) on the board with a score at the 21:28 mark. Hilcoff answered a Golden Eagles goal with her second of the game six minutes later to get Oregon back within one, but Marquette went on a 5-0 run to take an 8-2 lead into halftime.
Marquette improved its lead to 12-2 before Hilcoff found the back of the net for the third time with 13:52 remaining in the game. The sophomore finished off her impressive performance with her fourth goal at the 2:03 mark, ending a run of four straight goals by the Golden Eagles.
Who Stood Out: Hilcoff scored multiple goals for the ninth time in 10 games to open her collegiate career, recording a hat trick or better for the fifth time and four or more goals for the third time. Senior Alle Dunbar finished with a career-high 14 saves in net, exceeding her previous best of 13 set last weekend in the season opener at San Diego State.
Up Next: Oregon will return to action Sunday at 8 a.m. PT at Central Michigan.
