UCLA Co-Hosts Bruin Wave Invitational

SOMIS, Calif. - UCLA travels to The Saticoy Club this week for the Bruin Wave Invitational. The three-day, 54-hole tournament will be played Monday through Wednesday at the par-72, 6,273-yard layout.

The starting lineup for the Bruins will be junior Simar Singh and sophomores Emilie Paltrinieri, Emma Spitz, Annabel Wilson and Yuki Yoshihara. Junior Phoebe Yue will be playing as an individual. Live scoring will be available here. UCLA opens the tournament on Monday at 8 a.m. off the first tee in the order of Yoshihara, Singh, Paltrinieri, Wilson and Spitz. Yue will start her round on No. 10 at 8:55 a.m.

Joining the Bruins and co-host Pepperdine in the 15-team field are Arizona State, Cal Poly, Cal State Fullerton, Colorado State, Long Beach State, Nebraska, New Mexico, New Mexico State, Northwestern, Oregon, Oregon State, San Diego State and Washington.

UCLA will be playing in its fourth tournament of the season, finishing second at The Match in the Desert (Jan. 24-25, +15, 591), tied for second at the Lamkin Invitational (Feb. 8-9, +40, 904) and fifth at the Sun Devil Winter Classic (Feb. 15-17, +23, 887).

Spitz, who has a 71.1 scoring average, has been the top finisher for the Bruins in all three events. She has been under par in six of her eight rounds, shooting a 7-under total for the season. Spitz was solo second at the Sun Devil Winter Classic (-6, 210) with rounds of 3-under 69, 1-under 71 and 2-under 70. She tied for second at the Lamkin Invitational (-1, 215), recording a pair of 2-under 70s to open the tournament, and tied for third at The Match in the Desert (E, 144), shooting a 2-under 70 to begin that event.

Paltrinieri and Wilson are both tied for second on the team with a 74.4 scoring average. Paltrinieri tied for seventh at The Match (+4, 148), opening with a 2-under 70 for her lone under-par round so far this season. She tied for 10th at the Lamkin (+9, 225) and tied for 19th at the Sun Devil Classic (+6, 222). 

Wilson also opened her season with a T-7 showing at The Match (+4, 148) and an opening-round, 2-under 70. She tied for 11th at the Sun Devil Classic (+3, 219) and was 17th at the Lamkin (+12, 228).

Singh tied for 12th at The Match (+8, 152), was 33rd at the Lamkin (+20, 236) and 48th at the Winter Classic (+20, 236). Yoshihara is making her first appearance of the season after playing in five events as a freshman and posting a 76.5 scoring average and two Top 20s. Yue tied for 12th at The Match (+8, 152), was 53rd at the Sun Devil Classic (+33, 249) and tied for 54th at the Lamkin Invite (+40, 256).
